Title: Arsenal Have Improved - Rafinha
Post by: Folami David on Dec 28, 2013, 11:46 PM
Bayern Munich's Brazilian right-back Rafinha says his team should be cautious of Arsenal's improvement ahead of their Champions League tie against the Gunners.
.
Since playing Bayern Munich in the Champions League last season, Arsenal have added the likes of Mesut Özil and Mathieu Flamini to their ranks, alongside a much improved Aaron Ramsey and Wojciech Szczesny.
.
Speaking to Goal.com, Rafinha said:
.
"There will certainly be two tough games. We played them last year in the Champions League and we won one and lost the other. They are a better team now than last year.
.
"We will need to be at our best to make it to the next round. They're a great team with players like [Mesut] Ozil, [Olivier] Giroud and [Mikel] Arteta."
.
Arsenal lost 3-1 to Bayern at home last season, and won 2-0 at the Allianz Arena. Arsenal's exit on away goals will give them hope that they can beat an all- conquering Bayern side this season.
.
Bayern are seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, having played 16 games without a loss this season. Arsenal are also top of their domestic league by a point ahead of this weekend's fixtures, and a win at Newcastle on Sunday would see them top of the league at the halfway point of the season.
.
Arsenal have improved on their points tally from last season, but finished second in their Champions League group to Borussia Dortmund. Their failure to win their group meant they were drawn against group winners Bayern Munich, who won the Champions League last season after knocking out Arsenal at this same stage.
