Job Title: Vice President, Engineering and Capital Projects

Job Summary:
• Seven's growth plans are predicated on investing $200 to $300 million annually across a portfolio of projects at varying life cycle stages.
• These will vary from front end conceptual studies through FEED, detailed engineering to full execution and start up.
• The Company now plans to add a Vice President – Capital Projects to its Senior Management Team to ensure successful and predictable delivery of projects in accordance with the cost, schedule, operability and HSE targets set early in the asset life cycle.
• The Lagos based position will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will involve close liaison with the other members of the Senior Management Committee including the VP of Wells, the VP of Operations, the VP of Subsurface, the VP of QHSSEC and the Manager of HR.
• Direct reports will include project and functional managers.
• The successful candidate is expected to play a major role in the project engineering designs, so a significant background in facilities engineering is required.
• This exciting role will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to establish state of the art capital projects management team and process, suited to Nigeria.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and set strategies for the planning, design, procurement, contracting and execution of capital projects within the Seven Energy companies for both operated and non-operated assets.
• Build and staff a fit-for-purpose, sustainable capital projects organisation capable of delivering cost, schedule and quality performance that benchmark well with 7E's competitors.
• Drive the Seven Energy PREP stage gate process to deliver capital projects in accordance with the HSEQ, cost, schedule and operability targets set at the time of FID sanction.
• Routinely monitor project performance and actively intervene to rectify deviations to plan.
• Develop and maintain a capital projects management system that sets required quality levels – institute reviews and periodic audits to confirm effective functioning and compliance with corporate policies and capital project standards Build effective relations with senior management peers, JV partners and broader stakeholders including regulators (DPR, NPDC, NIPP), governments (state and local), communities and NGO's drawing on specialist resources within the Company.
Job and Personal Specifications (Education, Experience & Other Requirements):
• Broad upstream oil & gas capital project management experience across the full project life cycle.
• Ideally, this experience has been with both operator and contractor companies over a 20 – 30 years period.
• Proven ability to consistently deliver capital projects on time, on budget and to the expected quality standard.
• Capable of influencing at all levels of the organisation – from executive management to the job site.
• The role requires a hands-on approach and not a "manager of managers."
• Familiarity with establishing and effectively operating Project Management systems.
• Extensive experience in facilities engineering.
• The successful candidate will likely be a facilities engineer or have significant facilities engineering experience.
• An understanding and appreciation of the subsurface, drilling and operations disciplines and how they interact with facilities projects.
• Commercially astute and adept at establishing contractual arrangements; strong negotiating skills and ability to resolve issues with all potential parties.
• Prior Nigerian experience is desirable but as a minimum should have prior oil and gas experience in Africa or other comparable developing region.
• Must have highly developed cultural sensitivity and able mentor and build the capacity of a team primarily comprised of national staff.
• Also, must clearly understand, adhere to and be a promoter of business ethics including the BBA and FCPA.
• Candidates should be a graduate engineer with subsequent professional accreditation/ training.
• Formal training / qualifications in Project Management such as PMI would be beneficial.
