The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) lmo State Branch paid a scheduled visit to the Ag. Vice- Chancellor Prof. U.A.

Awuzie on the 19th of June, 2013 to acquaint the Ag. Vice-Chancellor on the need to establish a Faculty of Pharmacy in the University. The leader of delegation Pharm. Hon. Eugene Chuks Onyeji said that they are in IMSU to persuade the University Administration to expedite action on the establishment of the Faculty of Pharmacy in the University. He assured the Ag. Vice Chancellor that he will not lack manpower if this is actualized as the team is willing to offer their services when they are approached to do so.

He enthused that the Faculty when established will ameliorate the hardships encountered by lmo sons and daughters who could not secure admission in Medicine but could choose other courses like Pharmacy etc.

The fa ilit_ator of the visit Dr. Chidomere gave more msLght on the visit and opined that absence of Pharmacy in IMSU which is at the centre of more than six states has been the bane of further pursuit in medicine for those aspiring to study medicine, as they move to other Universities to study Pharmacy, denying them the opportunity of doing same in lmo State ifthe programme was on inthe University.

Responding, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor Prof. U.A. Awuzie, fnia thanked them for coming and recognized the presence of the Deputy Speaker of lmo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Pharm. Donatus Ozoemena who was among the entourage.

He informed them that he is operating on the same platform with them and very eager to welcome them whenever they are ready to mount the programmed in the University.

On the required staff to kick start the programme and the facilities that can a commodate the students when admitted, Ag, VLce-Chancellor sized the opportunity to call on stakeholders to come to lmo State University and assist in the provision of infrastructure and also for those who have the financial resources to build more Universities in lmo to accommodate the teeming candidates who passed the JAMB organized UTME but cannot secure admission.

He told the group to send a proposal to this office for management of the University to appraise and give them a feed back. In his contribution, the Deputy Speaker assured the Ag. Vice- Chancellor t at the arm reception accorded to his group will gmger hLm to use the instrumentality of his office to actualize the programme in the University once the proposal for the logistics gets to the House of Assembly.

At this juncture, a revered member of PSN, and a former Council member of IMSU, HRH Eze E.E. Njemanze, Ozuruigbo V. of Owerri was ushered i t? the Senate Chamber, venue of the courtesy VLSLt.
