TSHIP is a five-year, USAID-funded project.

Roles and responsibilities:

General Duties:

i. Serve as technical coordinator of Misoprostol and Chlorhexidine intervention in two of the 4 states.

ii.   Liaise with key stakeholders in these states.

iii. Form strategic relationship with other implementing and development agencies working in 2 states.

iv. Provide technical advice to the project.

v. Coordinate the implementation of the intervention in line with UNFPA/TSHIP work plan.

vi. Provide oversight supervision to intervention States.

Specific Duties:

i. Engage government and other stakeholders on Misoprostol and Chlorhexidine intervention including forecasting, community distribution and utilization.

ii. Inform, persuade and move government into action to procure Misoprostol and Chlorhexidine.

iii. Provide technical support to the State government in terms of planning, monitoring, supervision and evaluation.

iv. Coordinate all tasks related to saving one million lives through Misoprostol and Chlorhexidine intervention.

v. Ensure all activities are conducted in line with UNFPA/TSHIP focus intervention areas.

vi. Provide linkages between government, implementing partners and suppliers in related program area.

vii. Assists with administrative preparation for various meetings and follow on action plans.

viii. Provides regular reports to UNFPA/TSHIP.

ix. Other duties as may be assigned.

Skill set Qualification/ Skills Required

i. Master's degree, BSc or HND in Public Health or related field from an accredited University, polytechnic or health institution.

ii. At least 3 years' experience in MNCH/FP/RH program implementation with expertise in monitoring and evaluation.

iii. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in political environments and establish effective relationships with government and NGO leaders and advocates.

iv. Experience with planning and conducting meetings.

v. Sound understanding of reproductive health and child survival health issues in Northern Nigeria.

vi. Demonstrated strong interpersonal, writing and oral presentation skills.

vii. Hausa language skills strongly preferred.

viii. Experience working in Northern Nigeria will be an advantage.

ix. Ability to deal effectively with individuals and groups.

Competencies:

• Computer literate and proficiency in the use of Microsoft office

• Strong facilitation skills.

• Team player and willingness to work under pressure.

• Ability to relate with Government, Development partners and NGO counterparts

• Flexibility to work with strict deadlines and ever changing operational priorities (emergency situations) including travels across the project states.

• Ability to work without supervision and beyond.

• Flexible personality, ready to work in any social-cultural environment.

• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing in English.

Work experience: 3-4years
