The political differences between the strongman of Kwara politics, Dr Olusola Saraki and his son, Bukola Saraki, who is the immediate past governor of Kwara State, was formally resolved on Sunday in Kwara state.
The reconciliation took place at a special prayer held at the Ilofa Road GRA residence of Chief Saraki, with a number of Muslim clerics, led by the Chief Imam of Maraba mosque, Sheik Shuaib Abdulsalam, praying for the peaceful co-existence of the political leaders and people of the state.
Saraki, in an interview with journalists after the event said, "Bukola Saraki was governor here in Kwara State for eight years, he wanted someone that will succeed him and I discussed with him on who to succeed him, he never opened up to me. So that was what caused the crisis. He sponsored somebody and I sponsored somebody else. They won and I accepted it and did not go to the tribunal. I left the country on Thursday after the election on Tuesday. On Sunday, I was in Los Angeles and Friday after the election he had come to beg me for disobeying me. I shunned him but he would not go. He has been coming almost every other day to beg me.
"I thought that if I want peace and unity in Kwara, I must listen to him. So he apologised and organised a team to come to London and make peace with me. So they also continued to beg. The governor, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly and himself came and begged again. And I thought that if I wanted peace in the state, I must listen to them."
What do you expect? Is blood not thicker than water? No matter the differences, resolution will surely surfaced. Good move by Dr. Bukonla Saraki. A humbled indeed!
