Sightsavers has a fantastic opportunity for a Regional Institutional Funding Manager for West Africa to join a dynamic and high performing global institutional funding team at an exciting time for the organisation.
The post holder will have the responsibility for the implementation of the institutional fundraising strategy in the West Africa region with particular focus on raising and growing income from institutional donors. The post holder will support regional and country capacity in grant management including donor reporting, proposal development, development and management of grant information systems as well as line management of the Institutional Funding Officer for West Africa.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of raising and managing significant funding from a range of institutional donors such as DFID, USAID and EC. Experience of support and capacity building of non-programme funding specialists in grant applications and grant management is essential. You will be numerate, capable of speaking French and English, and a good communicator able to manage multiple priorities. Some international travel will be required.
Job purpose:
This post is accountable for the implementation of the institutional fundraising strategy in the West Africa Region; raising and growing income from institutional donors; supporting the development and follow up of fundraising opportunities, directly generating proposals in support of organisational funding plans, researching new institutional donors, strengthening regional and country capacity in grant management including donor reporting, developing and updating management information systems and providing institutional funding country updates.
Principal accountabilities:
1. To develop and maintain key relationships with institutional donors within the region (20% of time).
2. To raise and grow income from institutional donors by leading on the identification of funding opportunities, development of high quality proposals and providing contract management support in line with team plans (30% of time).
3. To research and keep abreast of institutional donor trends and developments with a view to identifying and diversifying income sources and opportunities for Sightsavers. (10% of time).
4. To provide technical support to country office staff in resource mobilisation and grant management and support the development of grant management systems in the region (15% of time).
5. To provide line management support to the Institutional Funding Officer/s (15% of time).
6. To work with Head of institutional funding, the rest of the Institutional funding team to develop management information systems, provide regular institutional funding updates to relevant staff and contribute to programme learning (10% of time).

Knowledge (education and related experience):
• Preference for a master's degree in international development or related issues with extensive experience working in institutional or statutory funding for an International development organisation.
• Proven track record of having raised and managed significant funding from a range of institutional donors such as DFID, USAID and EC.
• Experience of support and capacity building of non-programme funding specialists in grant applications and grant management
Skills (special training or competence):
• Established relationships with major multilateral and bilateral donors
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Excellent proposal writing skills
• Ability to speak French and English
• Numerate and ability to use Excel
