Job Description   The following opportunity is a contract position working as an Intertek employee in the facilities and under the direction of our client, a major oil and gas operator. This is not a permanent position with Intertek.

MAIN FUNCTIONS:

• This technical professional role interacts with management, engineering, construction and other technical staff to collaboratively address key technical and business priorities related to Project Services. Also, advises across functional groups on cost & schedule development matters central to key business decisions.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Ensures effective and efficient cost & schedule activities are performed in direct support of business objectives

• Collaborates with technical specialists from other NPO disciplines on critical cross functional issues to ensure integrated efforts in establishing sound technical and execution basis in project development stages to support cost and schedule estimate development

• Identifies cost & schedule opportunities, articulates technical / business challenges, and provides leadership to support project teams and development planning organization to address

• Mentors all professionals, particularly those with potential to fill senior technical specialist roles in Project Services

• May represent COMPANY externally on Project Services (including cost & schedule) practices / positions as business needs warrant

• Produce cost and schedule estimates in early project development stages with the assistance of junior staff across portfolio including onshore processing facility, power plant and terminals, offshore shallow water, onshore and offshore brownfield projects, pipelines, security projects

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES FOR NPO:  

• Provides support to all project teams with a concentration in Project Services

• Consult with and advise Project Management, Project Engineering & Design, Execution Planning and Development Planning groups

• Promote and implement Project Services Standards within NPO

• Input to, develop, maintain, review and endorse NPO specific Project Services tools and guidelines

• Guide, train and mentor NPO personnel, focusing on Project Services staff to develop Project Services organization capability and capacity

• Provide technical expertise to project teams to enhance the effectiveness of project management and execution during all project stages

• Participate in review teams for NPO Projects as a functional representative – IPR's, CRR's, Checkpoints, classifications, risk assessments, etc.

• Interface with NPO Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and Business Managers

• Interface with EMDC and EMPC Project Services Groups

• Provide functional review and endorsement of Business / Project Services deliverables including, Project Cost & Schedule Estimates, Funding Packages, ECP's, EBM's, SBM's, etc.

• Support the NPO Training Program as the lead trainer for Business/Project Services topics including Cost Estimating, Planning/Scheduling

• Maintaining historical information / benchmarks and update with recent project experience

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• 20+ years of experience in EPC project management cost & schedule development

• Facilities cost and schedule development, engineering, design, construction, project management experience required

• B.S. Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Civil)

• Significant Project Services (Cost, Schedule, Business Management) experience, with complementary experience in Upstream, Downstream, and/or Chemicals

• International experience required

• Cost & Schedule technical leader, with hands-on depth and breadth of technical skills and work experiences

– Advanced Expert in Cost Estimating and Planning/Scheduling skill areas; expert in many others

– Experience with estimating, scheduling, project controls, cost & schedule methods development and data analysis, as well as EMCAPS

• Demonstrated effectiveness in external interactions in area of expertise

• Demonstrated ability to integrate technical expertise, industry knowledge, and business experience to support the application and use of Project Services (Cost/Schedule, Project Controls, Business Services) in the global projects business

• Internally visible, connected, respected, and influential within the global project community for Project Services support

• Able to constructively engage and influence "as part of the technical team"

• Able to relate technical issues directly to business impacts

• Able to drive improvements in work processes, technology, and organization

• Commercially, operationally, and culturally astute

• Recognized mentor for career and skill development for Project Services personnel assigned to capital projects

• Work experience and skills in key complementary Job Families / functions
