No fewer than 19 officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) will be dismissed for corrupt practices.
The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Osita Chidoka, who disclosed this in Ibadan on Tuesday, during his official visit to the state command, said the officials were arrested by the surveillance team during official duty for collecting bribe from motorists and engaging in other misconduct.
The FRSC boss said that they were already being tried for the alleged offences.
He said the issue of corruption among officials of the FRSC had become paramount and warned that nobody would be spared in the war against corruption.
While disclosing that the officials under trial were arrested in different parts of the country, he said any unit or command involved in corrupt practices would be dealt with accordingly.
The FRSC boss who identified accommodation as one of the challenges facing the corps said already, the zonal commanders had been allocated houses in the various zones.
He stated further that the welfare of the corps marshals was being taken into consideration, assuring that there would be improved welfare packages for them.
He added that henceforth, there would not be delay in promotion and that it would be done based on merit.
Chidoka promised to equip the FRSC staff clinic with modern medical equipment adding that three heavy towing vehicles had been purchased by the FRSC, while additional nine were being expected to ensure safety on the highways.
Also speaking, the state Sector Commander, Godwin Ogagaoghene, informed the Corps Commander of the challenges facing the command which include lack of patrol and towing vehicles.
