Post by: Shola Sholaz on Jun 06, 2014, 10:53 PM
The Vice-Chancellor of University of Abuja, Prof. James Adelabu has condemned the recent strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU in the institution saying its all about destroying the good works he is doing in the school.
.
The ASUU Chairman of UNIABUJA, Mr Ben Ugheoke said that the union had resolved to embark on an indefinite strike pending when all their demands were met which includes: payment of their check-off dues for the last three years and other allowances.
.
In his reaction, the VC denied owing the lecturers any check off due or any payment whatsoever saying the demands of ASUU is outrageous.
.
He said, "The union has its ulterior motives behind the baseless demands and strike challenging them to tell the public the whole truth".
.
Prof. Adelabu submitted that the issue of check- off dues have been solved since last year when the management started paying the dues with the salaries of the lecturers.
.
The VC also denied allegations of misappropriation of funds and misuse of power challenging the lecturers to bring forth evidence to support their claim.
.
However, with this accusations and counter-accusations, the only people suffering are the students who are sitting at home as a result of the strike.
.
We here at Theinfostrides.com urge the warring parties to sheath their swords and ensure that peace reigns so that students would resume their academic activities. Remember that an ideal mind is the devil's workshop.
