The students of Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola has been called to return to school as the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union Of Polytechnics (ASUP) is not of benefit to the students.
.
The Adamawa State Poly Rector, Professor Umar Bobboi have directed the students to resume for academic activities on Monday, 16th June.
.
Professor Bobboi described the ASUP demands as ill-motivated and contrary to labour laws, saying that the demand for payment of 15percent SIWES allowance arrears for the period between August 2011 and December 2013, amounting to N160 million bythe lecturers is outrageous.
.
However, the ASUP chairman of Adamawa State Polytechnic, Comrade Coleman Goji called on the both lecturers or students to disregard the directive, saying the strike will not be called off until their demands were met.
.
He said the resumption directive was a selfish call by the Rector.
