Of the over 100,000 candidates that applied for admission into Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri, only about 5,000 of them were lucky to be admitted into the institution.
.
This was made known at the 22nd matriculation ceremony of the institution where the fresh students were formally admitted into the citadel of learning for the 2013/14 academic session.
.
Akaluso Collins Ikechukwu, a 100-level student of the Department of Marketing, said he felt great to finally be admitted in a university.
.
"I really thank God for making this a reality and expect his grace to see me through as I am looking forward to graduate with a first class," he said.
.
The IMSU Vice Chancellor, Professor Ukachukwu Awuzie in his address commended the new students for their outstanding feat, adding that they had come to the school during a time of revival and renaissance.
.
He urged them to use the opportunity to make their parents and country proud by cultivating the spirit of hard-work and avoiding social vices associated with entering the university like cultism, prostitution, exam malpractice and truancy as non of them will help them become graduates.
