The latest report from the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) strike has it that the national executives of the union are currently in a meeting with the senate committee on education in Abuja.
.
This meeting, according to the ASUP chairman, Chibuzo Asomugha, will decide what the lecturers will discuss at their National Executive Council (NEC) meeting which will hold later this week.
.
Asomugha said: "We shall go to Abuja for the meeting but that is not an assurance that the strike will be called off today because even if we agree to call of the strike based on certain parameters, we shall still have to communicate with our members."
.
He however lamented the drawbacks caused by several of the polytechnics pulling out of the strike but said that it is better they leave than not giving the strike a 100 percent commitment.
.
He assured the students that the ASUP leadership will always have their interest first and will work seriously to ensure the strike is suspended.
