Today, 4th July, 2014 the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Dr MacJohn Nwaobiala who chaired the Technical Committee on the Removal of the Ceiling on Career Progression of HND Holders and Dichotomy between the HND was submitted to the Minister of State for Education, Barr. Nyesom Wike.
.
Receiving the report, Barr. Wike urged members of ASUP to return back to the classroom as a response to the positive efforts of the Federal Government.
.
He said all key demands of ASUP have been resolved, pointing out that the Federal Government has agreed to pay the CONTISS 15 arrears.
.
He, however, said that the momentum for payment of CONTISS 15 was lost because of the refusal of ASUP. He noted that with the acceptance of ASUP, a new process will be initiated after the observations of Salaries and Wages Commission are resolved.
.
Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Dr MacJohn Nwaobiala said that extensive work was done by the committee and ASUP made far reaching commitments.
.
ASUP President, Comrade Chibuzo Asomugha who arrived after the submission of the report commended the government for the action. He, however, said unless the government makes a firm commitment on the payment of the arrears, the strike will not be called off.
