About 50 students of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) escaped death on Thursday when a bus they boarded mysteriously caught fire.

The students were headed to the institution's temporary site in Agbani when fire gutted the Enugu Coal City Shuttle Bus conveying them near ESBS junction.

Sources said most of the students and other passengers sustained injuries while jumping out from the windows of the bus.

It was also gathered that the students lost valuables including laptops and handsets in the incident.
