The Nasarawa State Government will employ about 2,000 teachers to fill vacant positions in the state schools and as well reduce youth restiveness and improve the security situation in the state.
.
The Executive Secretary, Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Malam Abdulkarim Abdullahi, made this known in his office last Monday where he said that the board had set up a committee to collaborate with the councils' chairmen and the education secretaries to identify areas where the teachers were needed.
.
He said that the committee would complete the assignment shortly and added that the recruitment of the teachers would commence before the end of August.
.
In his reaction, the Chairman of Lafia Local Government Council, Alhaji Suleiman Wambai, who spoke on behalf of other LGA chairmen, lauded the government's decision to employ more teachers, adding that it would create jobs for qualified youths.
