The Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia will hold its maiden convocation ceremony on Saturday 6th September, 2014 as 12,200 graduates of the institution's Diploma and Higher National Diploma (HND) will for the first time be awarded their certificates after 12 years.
.
Explaining why the institution failed to conduct convocation over the years, the acting rector, Dr. Silas Gyar, blamed it on absence of governing council in the polytechnic since inception, until the Almakura administration appointed members of governing council.
.
At a briefing for the 1st to 10th convocation ceremony, Silas expressed worry over the trauma the delay might have had on the image of the polytechnic and the graduates.
.
While lamenting the setback in the growth and development of the institution due to lack of convocation, the acting rector said most of the students had been denied admission to further their education, while others were refused promotions in their places of work for failure to present their original certificate.
.
Congratulations to the Graduating Students ...
