Title: Jonathan’s visit: Akwa Ibom evacuates lunatics
Post by: emezico on Jul 06, 2011, 02:53 AM
The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare in Akwa Ibom has commenced the eviction of lunatics from the streets in preparation for President Goodluck Jonathan's visit.

Jonathan is billed to pay a one-day official visit to the state on Wednesday.

The President is expected to take part in the Nigerian Army Day Celebration, 2011 and inaugurate some projects in the state.

The Head of Surveillance Team in the ministry, Mr Wisdom Udoka, said the evacuation of lunatics in Uyo was a routine exercise done once in six months.

"We have an influx of lunatics in Akwa Ibom and we understand most of them are being brought into Uyo from neighbouring states," Udoka said.

Why? Because of President's one-day visit. Why will he know that Akwa Ibom state is facing that societal challenge. Why can't the government find alternative means of taking care of the lunatics? This will surely be a lasting solution to seeing them in the streets.
