The Zamfara State government has postponed schools' resumption date for the 2014/2015 academic session from September 22nd to October 13, 2014 due to the upcoming Sallah festival.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Alhaji Lawal Talata Mafara, said that stakeholders agreed to extend the date due to the fact that many pupils in primary and post-primary schools might not resume as expected because of the Sallah festival which is just a week from the date set by the Federal Government.

The October date was initially fixed by the Federal Government when the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) broke out in the country, but brought it forward to September 22 after the government assessed the situation to be under control.
