The Governing Council of University of Benin (UNIBEN) has approved the appointment of Professor Osasere Orunmwense as the new Vice Chancellor of the university.

Until his appointment, Prof. Orunmwanse was the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. He is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering.

The new VC, who is a Bini indigene, will replace the outgoing Prof. Osayuki Oshodin whose tenure will expire November 30th, 2014.

Confirming the appointment, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of UNIBEN, Mr. Harrison Osarenren, said that Orunmwanse emerged top among 18 other candidates who sat for the interview conducted by the Governing Council of the university by scoring 78 per cent.
