Title: Igbinedion University VC Laments Private Varsity’s Exclusion From TETFUND
Post by: Shola Sholaz on Nov 28, 2014, 02:10 AM
The Vice-Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Okada, Professor Eghosa Osaghae, has lamented the exclusion of private universities from the proceeds of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) by the federal government.
.
Prof. Osaghae, who made this known at a briefing to mark the 12th convocation ceremony of the university, stated that the universities had been denied access to the government fund and left to cater for their operational costs, in spite of their huge financial contributions to the fund.
.
The vice-chancellor said that while universities privately managed and funded were more regulated by the National Universities Commission (NUC), their counterparts owned by the federal and state governments enjoyed the grants in aid as subsidies.
.
He argued that privately run universities would enjoy better improvement in infrastructure if additional funds were made available to them through the TETFUND initiative.
.
Best of luck To You all...
