We wish to use this medium to inform all students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka (UNIZIK), especially the aspirants/prospective students and the public in general, of an ugly incident that has occurred on a facebook page linked to the official website of the university.

The Facebook page in question, www.facebook.com/unizikNEWS has been compromised by some persons with obvious fraudulent intent. The impostor published the message below on the facebook page at about 2PM yesterday;

"PAGE HACKED BY CANN3X CYBER CRIMINAL
Contact me: 081[REDACTED] if you want your name uploaded in unizik second list price N20,000″

Ever since, the fraudster had posted and deleted several other messages soliciting bribe for admission.

At the time of this report, there hasn't been any official statement from the University on this incident.

Events like this raise big questions as regards how effectively our Institutions of Higher Learning actually make use of the Social Media.

At the moment, we can only advise UNIZIK aspirants to resist the urge to contact any phone number posted on that facebook page as you may end up getting duped! We will update you as soon as more information is available to us.
