The Oyo State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), a registered industrial union and affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has not known peace in the past twelve years. Instead, it has been continually engulfed in fatal intra-union crises, thus turning major motor parks in Ibadan into a theatre of bitter rivalry, struggles for leadership positions and self-aggrandisement.
