Tony 'Tosh' Farrell, the coach who brought Wayne Rooney through the ranks at Everton believes the Manchester United striker will quit them for Barcelona or Real Madrid, someday.
Farrell nurtured the teenage Rooney at Everton's Academy and played a key role in the development of the United and England striker.
Farrell, now coaching youth teams in Massachusetts, will be watching Rooney tonight as United play the opening game of their pre-season tour of the US, against New England Revolution in Boston.
Rooney threatened to leave United last season over the club's perceived lack of ambition, before eventually signing a new five-year deal worth £220,000-a-week.
"Wayne always had the potential, but I personally think he's going to be even better.
"Is he going to be at Manchester United forever? Personally, I think he's going to move on to Barcelona or Real Madrid. I think he's going to want to challenge himself," Farrell said.
