Title: Presidential Election: CPC Knows Fate Today
Post by: emezico on Jul 14, 2011, 09:57 AM
The Court of Appeal sitting as the Presidential Tribunal in Abuja will Today deliver a ruling on the preliminary objections filed by President Goodluck Jonathan and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Jonathan and PDP are challenging the legitimacy of the petition filed by the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) to nullify the April 16 presidential election.

President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami, adjourned for ruling after all the counsel had made their submissions.

In separate objections filed, Jonathan and PDP said that the court lacked the jurisdiction to hear the petition.

If the objections are upheld, the petition will be dismissed at an early stage and will not go into trial.
