Mrs Bilkisi Gidado, 30, on Sunday, committed suicide by setting herself ablaze and eventually falling into a well in her residence in Jalingo, Taraba State.
Newsmen learnt that Mrs Gidado committed suicide, due to frustrations allegedly caused by her husband, Yusuf Gidado, after he took a second wife, and maltreated her.
According to eyewitness, Mrs Gidado was, however, rescued by sym-pathisers, who rushed her to the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, where she was pronounced dead.
The family of the deceased told newsmen that it was un-Islamic for any Muslim to neglect his first wife because he had taken another wife, adding that the husband was under obligation to give them equal love.
May her soul rest in peace! It is quite unfortunate. It indeed un-Islamic for any Muslim to neglect his wife and equally un-islamic for one to kill him/herself. Lets the judgement be left to God... The root cause of the matter was glaring to the deceased and her husband.
What an unfortunate way to die, out of jealousy, frustration or love, as the case may be. May her soul rest in peace! And, may God grant her family the fortitude to bear the huge loss.
