'Obasanjo, a Southerner, was in office for eight years. He was succeeded by Umaru Musa Yar'Adua in 2007 but Yar'Adua died on May 5, 2010. President Goodluck Jonathan, a Southerner, took over, completed his tenure and started another term to end in 2015.
