Google is to begin gathering more Finnish material for its Street View service. The streetscapes of Finland will be photographed by a camera mounted on a car and also, for the first time, a Google tricycle.
The tricycle has been used in other countries before, but this is the first time it will be sent to Finland. Some areas are inaccessible to cars, so the tricycle will capture images there instead. These spots include footpaths, parks and tourist attractions.
Google will begin gathering photos at the beginning of August. The company will publicise the locations in advance on its website.
This time, the main target will be residential areas, where Google aims to update old material and to cover new ground.
