CREW members of an unidentified helicopter were feared killed on Friday morning in Oke Ikonifin village, Olaoluwa Local Government Area of Osun State.
Some residents of the town, who spoke with Tribune, said a loud explosion in one of the forests at the early hours of Friday, drew the attention of everybody in the village, but it was difficult to render assistance to those who might have been trapped in the mishap because the area of the crash was difficult to access.
They claimed the forest is a government reserved forest and that they were afraid to go inside it for fear of wild animals.
The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Solomon Olusegun, in a telephone interview, said police rescue team would be dispatched to comb the reserve.
The Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr. Harold Demuren, at about 8.00 p.m on Friday, said that the helicopter had not been found.
