There was tension around Okota area of Lagos State, on Monday morning, as armed robbers, who operated on a motorcycle, shot a bank customer and made away with his money.
The robbery incident threw many of the residents and bank officials around Okota, Cele, Ijesha and some parts of Mushin into serious panic.
The incident also caused a stir in the state police command, as the divisional police officers and the different police stations around Ijesha, Cele Okota and Aswani were put on their toes by the police high authority.
The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the unidentified bank customer had gone to the Okota branch of a new generation bank to withdraw a huge sum of money, when the armed robbers attacked him.
It was further gathered that the bank customer had hardly moved out of the bank premises, when a motorcycle parked in front of him and the robbers ordered him ordered him to surrender the withdrawn money.
The gun shots from the armed robbers created serious confusion among the communities around Okota resulting in the widespread of the report that armed robbers were operating in a bank.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State command, Samuel Jinadu, confirmed the incident and added that the police in the state were on the trail of the armed robbers.
