Job Position: The CIPRA MTN Research Fellow
Reports to: Director, Centre for Infrastructure, Policy, Regulation and Advancement

Descriptions:
• The Centre for Infrastructure, Policy, Regulation and Advancement (CIPRA) is a new centre in Lagos Business School, devoted to research, training and advocacy in infrastructure development.
• As economic growth and development of nations are widely acknowledged to be linked directly to levels of infrastructure endowment, it has become evident to transition and developing economies just how much their future growth and advancement depend on the adequacy of their social and economic infrastructure.
• Thus, CIPRA seeks to advance the need to approach infrastructural provision, policy formulation and regulation in a more structured and strategic manner to ensure not only sustained availability of infrastructure, but also ensuring that public and private sector investment in this area is facilitated by a public policy and regulatory environment that is progressive and renders private investors enthusiastic about investing.
• Ultimately the Centre seeks to improve the state of infrastructure in Africa, administration of infrastructure, governance of states, the level of engagement in the public policy process, and the way public utilities and resources are regulated through research, teaching seminars and public events.
Job Purpose:
The appointed Fellow will be required:
• To undertake research across the spheres of physical and social infrastructure with the aim of developing models and solutions for efficient and sustainable and well maintained infrastructure for Africa with special focus on Nigeria.
• To communicate results of these findings to stakeholders in the public and private sector with the ultimate aim of achieving well informed policy enactments, better regulatory interventions and more efficient implementation of infrastructure projects and programs from targeted stakeholder engagement activities.
• To design and implement training modules relevant to the CIPRA areas of core competence
• To assist the Director of CIPRA and other faculty executives in the successful execution of various CIPRA programmes and undertakings
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• To develop research projects to strengthen and expand the existing programme of research in CIPRA
• To devise, and contribute to the development of proposals for external funding of CIPRA research interests
• To design and conduct a successful programme of investigation
• To publish in high quality peer reviewed national and international journals
• To present research at national and international conferences/meetings as appropriate
• To develop research networks locally, nationally and internationally in support of the research programme
• To generate and pursue independent and original research ideas in the fields of infrastructure and public policy and assist in the initiation of new lines of research in related areas
• To provide guidance to other staff and students in own specialist area, including supervising and assessing post graduate projects
• To take part in knowledge-transfer activities, including collaborative meetings with other research groups and stakeholders from the public and private sector
• To perform other duties as may from time to time arise and consistent with the role
Minimum Qualifications
• A doctorate preferably in Economics, Law, Finance, Strategic Management, Public Policy & Administration or related fields.
• A strong record of international quality publications.
• At least 10 years post-graduate research experience in related areas (international research experience would confer an added advantage).
• Competencies and Skill Requirements
• Experience of qualitative and quantitative research, including case study and focus group work.
• An effective communicator, able to analyze and critique complex information.
• The candidate should be adept at working with people from a wide range of academic disciplines and stakeholders within the private and public sectors.
• Good knowledge of management of teams.
• International exposure and experience at a management level, including experience of working in a diverse multicultural, multinational context.
• Good relationship management and strategic networking skills at the highest level in the public and private sectors.
• Deep knowledge of regional and global trends in the international community as well as an understanding of the key drivers.
• Strong leadership, people and change management skills.
• High ethical standards, sense of responsibility, accountability and dependability.
• High presentation, facilitation and communication skills.
