Title: FA Fear UK Riots Will Cause Big Setback For Premier League kick-Off
Post by: emezico on Aug 10, 2011, 01:24 PM
English FA fear riots will cause big setback for the opening weekend of the new Premier League season. The League kick-off faces being wrecked by the riots sweeping the country.

And the Football League programme could be brought to its knees as well, if police are unable to contain the situation on the streets over the next 24 hours.

London is likely to bear the worst of the call-offs, as police resources there are stretched to breaking point, but with unrest spreading to cities including Birmingham and Manchester, Premier League bosses are braced for their opening weekend fixture list being shredded.

England's friendly against Holland, scheduled for Wednesday night, was called off on Tuesday morning as police focused their attention on restoring order.
