Duties / Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Chief, Conferences and Publications Department (C&P), the incumbent is responsible for operational and budgetary planning and for the financial management of C&P
Qualifications required:
- University degree in business administration, accounting, mathematics or a related field OR education in a reputed college of advanced education, with a diploma of equivalent standard to that of a university degree in one of the above-mentioned fields. A qualifying combination of education, university training and experience may be considered in lieu of a university degree in the case where no suitable candidate with a degree is identified.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience including at least two at the international level in areas of general administration, cost analysis, statistical analysis techniques, verification and valuation of financial data.
- Excellent knowledge of one of the six official languages of the ITU (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish) and very good knowledge of a second language. Knowledge of a third language would be an advantage. (Under the provisions of Resolution No. 626 of the Council, a relaxation of the language requirements may be authorized in the case of candidates from developing countries.)
Competencies:
- Strong conceptual analytical and evaluative skills and ability to identify issues, formulate options and make conclusions and recommendations; problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and evaluate routine and non-routine administrative issues.
- Proven knowledge of and hands-on experience with PC-based office tools (e.g. Word for Windows, Excel) and thorough knowledge of the accounting and financial management system SAP.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain good-working relations with staff at all levels in a multi-cultural environment.
