THE Federal Government has commenced action on a four-year strategic plan to develop the education sector.
The Minister of State for Education, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike who disclosed this in Abuja yesterday to commemorate President Goodluck Jonathan's 100 days in office, said the plan covers access to education for under-privileged Nigerians, improvement of education standard and strengthening the institutional management of education.
According to him, the proposed plan would also pursue teacher education and development and enhance technical and vocational education to create employment.
He said the ministry was abreast with the transformation agenda of President Jonathan; hence it would deliver on the programme to improve education.
Wike said in the last 100 days, the Federal Ministry of Education through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund commenced the construction of 58 schools for the almajiris, while the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) is constructing 51 of such schools.
