On Wednesday, September 21st 2011, Google will be holding a Gone Google 'Awareness Day' for Uniben faculty and students at the University Main Auditorium from 9:00am to 4:00pm. The event will provide an opportunity for the Uniben campus community to learn more about Google Apps as well as Google products such as Search and Chrome among others.

There will be numerous giveaways for attendees as well as prizes for winners of a Google Trivia contest, so get your thinking caps on. The event will also be followed by a training session on September 28th and 29th for a select group of faculty and students to provide more in depth training on Google Apps for Education.

Interested participants should register before Monday, September 19th at www.uniben.edu/googleawareness. Spots are limited.

The Awareness Day is part of a series of Africa wide university outreach efforts by the Google Apps Supporting Programs (GASP) team. GASP is a Google Initiative aimed at catalyzing Internet usage and Google adoption in African universities through the provision of Google Apps, Technical Consulting, Apps deployment support and training.

Google is serious about Africa and our strategy is to get users online by developing an accessible, relevant, vibrant and self-sufficient Internet ecosystem. We do this by reducing access as a barrier to all potential African users, by making the Internet more relevant and useful to users and by helping strengthen the continent's Internet ecosystem.

We want to empower the African Academic community with knowledge, infrastructure and tools to support research, technological innovation and capacity building through a variety of programs in African universities.
