The Action Congress of Nigeria on Monday asked the former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola to apologise to the entire people of the state over almost eight years of misrule instead of apoligising to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) .
The Osun State chapter of the party through its chairman, Elder Adelowo Adebiyi, said Oyinlola's apology to his PDP co-travellers over the weekend was misplaced, adding that the people of the state who bore the brunt of his misrule deserved unreserved apology.
Adebiyi said this while speaking with journalists in Osogbo that "Oyinlola's apology to the PDP leaders and members is of no effect and highly misplaced. The people of the state who were the victims of his almost eight years of misrule should be apologised to. These were the people under siege. Their rights were violated. Under his administration, educational facilities went kaput; roads became impassable and there was fear in the land.
"Should these not be the people to get Oyinlola's apology? This is why we believe that the ordinary people of the state, and not Oyinlola's PDP visionless leaders deserve his apology."
The ACN chairman also urged Oyinlola to compare his almost eight years in power with what the Rauf Aregbesola-led administration has done in less than one year.
He added that with the zeal and commitment of the administration, the Oyinlola team would soon realise that they were in power to merely waste the time of the people of the state.
"With the ACN government's commitment to functional education, massive food production, cleaner and safer environment, massive employment generation, the people of the state have seen the differences and these are some of the reasons Oyinlola ought to have come out publicly to apologise to the people of Osun," he stated.
