The people of Olorunsogo Oosa community,Ededimeji in Ede South Local Government Council Area of Osun State have alerted the state and local government authorities, to the many challenges their community faces in their day-to-day activities.
Some of these challenges, according to sources who spoke to OSUN DEFENDER COMMUNITY NEWS include the need to replace the old pipes, bringing pipe-borne-water to the town with bigger ones, the sinking of boreholes to complement the supply of clean drinking water, completion of self-help maternity centre, construction of bridge with good drainage over the Awere River, installation of at least 25 concretes, to replace the wooden ones done by the community and the completion of the purchased estate by Ede South Local Government Council.
Speaking with the medium, a community leader; Mr. Joel Babawale, stated that the intervention of the appropriate authorities would save their community from utter neglect and repose their confidence in the Mr. Rauf Aregbesola-led administration.
He disclosed that in the case of the supply of clean drinking water, both the community and the Redeemers School of Missions (RECSOM), Ede, had tried their best in that regard.
He complained that the water supply was not enough to meet the needs of RECSOM, albeit Olorunsogo Oosa community.
According to him, "we need bigger pipes that will increase the amount of drinking water for the primary school, members of the community as well as RECSOM". He lamented the situation where some parts of the ancient town still lacked water, despite the fact that there was a functional water work located in Ede.
Mr. Babawale maintained that the assistance of the government in the matter would go a long way in the prevention of the spread of cholera and other water-borne diseases.
Similarly, members of EgbedaLoogun community in the same local government council area have called on the state government, to actualize the completion of the road project from Ede town through EgbedaLoogun to Ode-Omu.
They maintained that the completion of the awarded road project which was part of the 2010 budget by the Osun State government would open-up the town to development and would aid mobility, as the permanent sites of both the Federal Polytechnic, Ede and Adeleke University were located in the town.
The Head of the community; Chief Joseph Ajani Babawale, who spoke with the medium also appealed to the state government to in addition to the road, provide the community with means of getting clean drinking water and the renovation and rehabilitation of the schools in the community.
He stated that the only schools in the community; Christ Apostolic Church (C.A.C.) Primary School and Laminisa Community Primary School, EgbedaLoogun were really in a bad state and needed the midas touch of the administration of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola.
In his case for the provision of clean drinking water, the community head revealed that it would help in the prevention of water-borne diseases, which had already claimed the life of Mr. Ganiyu Yusuf a.k.a.Babakekere, a prominent member of EgbedaLoogun community.
