Regional wireless carrier C Spire announced recently it will be the next U.S. cellular provider to carry Apple's iPhone. The carrier serves Mississippi and other small pockets of the southern U.S. C Spire is the eighth largest wireless carrier in the country. The three largest -- Verizon, AT&T and Sprint -- already carry the iPhone, indicating Apple skipped over T-Mobile and several other companies when choosing its next U.S. cellular partner. C Spire, formerly known as "Cellular South," said it will become the fourth U.S. provider to offer iPhone service in the coming weeks. The phone will run on a CDMA-based network, the same as Sprint and Verizon.
