Location: Abuja – Public Affairs (PAS)

WORK HOURS: Full-Time; 40 hours/week
SALARY: OR - Ordinarily Resident - N2,506,239.00 p.a. (Starting basic salary)
In addition to the basic salary, all allowances will be paid in accordance with the
Mission Local Compensation Plan.
NOR - Not Ordinarily Resident - AEFM - US$39,994.00 p.a.                             
EFM - US$34,324 Starting Salary p.a.

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
•   The incumbent  serves as an advisor to the PAO and Information Officer, assisting the
•   Information Section in planning, developing, scheduling and administering a country-wide media program to promote wider exposure to and understanding of U.S. security cooperation and military assistance (to include humanitarian assistance) among key audiences in Nigeria. 
•   The Outreach Program has responsibility for monitoring of media content and maintaining relations with media houses in the security cooperation portfolio.  The incumbent also supports the public diplomacy social media activities and initiatives of the other PA units and other Mission sections. 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

1. A University degree in  Social or Political sciences, Mass communication,  Journalism,
Broadcasting, Public relations, or Marketing is required.
2. Minimum of two years of progressively work experience in Journalism, Public relations, Broadcasting or Information Technology is required.
3. Level IV Fluent (Speaking/Writing) English is required.
4. Working knowledge with the local media community and civil society is required.
5. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers (e.g. Microsoft programs) is required.
6. Ability to develop and maintain contacts is required.

SELECTION PROCESS:
•   When equally qualified, Eligible Family Members and U.S. Veterans will be given
•   preference. 
•   Therefore it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status
in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to
apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of the employment.
4. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personnel Services Agreement (PSA) are
ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their
employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed
(WAE) work schedule.5. Current employees who are qualified will be given preference.
6. Only successful applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be notified.
