The Kebbi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Sunday nullified the election of Governor Saidu Dakingari of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Delivering judgement in the suit filed by the 2011 governorship candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, Abubakar Malam, Justice Mairo Mohammed ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct fresh election in the state within 90 days.
Leading two other justices, Mohammed said illegal documents were used during the election while the Independent National Electoral Commission failed to provide the statutory forms for the election.
The tribunal ruled that since the petitioner had proved that the election was marred by irregularities, fake ballot papers and multiple voting, there were enough grounds to nullify the poll, on the basis of Section 140(1)(2) of the Electoral Act 2011.
