Nigeria's relationship with the United Kingdom, her erstwhile colonial master, has been recently strained following a spat over weekly flight frequencies between the two countries. The UK triggered the standoff when it refused to grant adequate landing slots to Nigeria's sole flag carrier, Arik Air, at London's Heathrow Airport. Expectedly, Arik Air's protest provoked a counter-reaction from the Federal Government.
