To look at the state of toilet in Ilesa is Pathetic .It is something that needs to be put in order as soon as possible. About only 10% of the people in Ilesa make use of water closets; while majority still use pit toilets, some don't even make use of toilet at all.

Some of the indigenes have indulged in the habit of making use of nearby bushes, since they are surrounded with so much of it.

The majority of the houses that make use of these pit-toilets are not in good condition. Some of these toilets are built with mud, which have become weak after a long period of time, while some have collapsed already, yet people are still making use of them. The pits are not been regularly kept clean and are not always covered, which makes the spread of diseases easier.

Some of these toilets are close to the market or public places, even kitchens, where foods are been prepared, the stench often coming from these toilets are unbearable, but to my surprise, the people are not bothered.

Ilesa is a major town in Osun State, it is very embarrassing that you cannot get good toilet facilities, except in hotels and modern houses. Also, because most of these buildings were built several years ago without any proper planning, adequate measures were not taken to ensure people's conveniences. What the people need is proper orientation on the consequence of their action and the building of modern public toilets in communities, compound and market places. I am using this medium to appeal to the two local government councils in Ilesa to please look into this situation before it becomes a problem.
