Title: CJN Musdapher on plea bargaining
Post by: newswarrior on Nov 28, 2011, 09:02 AM
At a recent opening ceremony of the annual general conference of the Nigerian Bar Association's (NBA) legal practice section, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Dahiru Musdapher, attacked the practice of settling corruption cases out of court through the use of plea bargaining. Castigating the practice as "a novel concept of dubious origin", the CJN declared that it "has no place in our law – substantive or procedural".
