The Federal Government has announced its determination to curb the increasing rate of unemployment in the country.

To actualise this, the FG said it would establish up a private sector committee on job creation on Monday July 12, 2010, with a six-week deadline to submit its plan of action.

Finance Minister and Chairman of the National Economic Management Team, Mr Olusegun Aganga, speaking in Abuja said this is one of his prime sphere of intervention.

In Abuja Saturday, Aganga said the main objective of the private sector committee would be to work with the FG towards developing an Action Plan that will encompass practical and specific interventions for ensuring increased job creation in the country.

Aganga said that the committee is expected to leverage on employment generation models being used by other countries.

He said: "This plan will leverage on existing reports on employment generation in Nigeria and make practical recommendations learning from what other countries both developed, emerging and developing countries have done to ensure increased job creation. in their countires. We are doing this with a view to developing a pool of possible policy interventions and incentives that will create an environment that is conducive for job creation.
