Osun State pilgrims to the holy land of Jerusalem in this year have been adjudged the best among other groups from other states across the federation.
This fact was revealed by the leader of the Batch A of the 2011 pilgrims from the state to Jerusalem, Prince Felix Awofisayo, who recently arrived the country, after performing all religious rites in the holy land.
According to Prince Awofisayo, the President, Oranmiyan Group Worldwide, the state group was adjudged the best based on good conduct and orderliness on the part of the pilgrims while in the holy land.
The Oranmiyan chief eulogised the team members for exhibiting the Omoluabi characters, for which the state residents and indigenes are known, even in the face of daunting challenges.
Speaking further, Prince Awofisayo added that the fact that the state pilgrims were adjudged the best, was corroborated by the Nigerian Ambassador to Israel, His Excellency, Mr Oladapo Obasa and two Federal Commissioners from the Nigerian Pilgrims Commission.
The two federal commissioners, Reverend Robinson Oritsuwa and Mrs Helen Uneku were reported to have expressed their joint satisfaction on the conduct of the state pilgrims, while admonishing pilgrims from other states of the federation to emulate them.
Speaking on the experiences of the pilgrims during their stay in Israel, Prince Awofisayo stated that the pilgrims were spiritually fulfilled as they were all able to visit all biblical sites, while at the same time, performing all religious sites.
Expressing his satisfaction and appreciation to Osun State government on the welfare of the pilgrims, the Oranmiyan chief eulogised the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for seen to the welfare of the pilgrims, which was a clear departure from the past, when pilgrims were usually left to their fate when performing their religious rites.
The representative of the governor during the pilgrimage further expressed his joy over the fact that during this year's pilgrimage, none of the 264 pilgrims that performed this year's pilgrimage absconded during and after the religious exercise.
