The controversy surrounding the alleged theft of the Independent National Electoral Commission's direct data capture (DDC) machines assumed a disturbing dimension last week with reports that the missing machines were on sale at major computer markets in Lagos. On October 26, 2011, INEC's spokesperson, Mr. Kayode Idowu, had disclosed that about 1,388 DDC machines, 2,986 hard discs and 644 batteries of the DDC machines had been discovered missing from INEC's central store in Lagos.
