The Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) candidate, Captain Idris Wada emerged victorious in the gubernatorial elections conducted in Kogi State on Saturday.
Wada swept the polls in 18 out of the 20 local governments in the state. In Ajaokuta, PDP scored 10,653 votes while the ACN had 3,129. In Okehi, PDP has 18,035, ACN, 6,606; Idah: PDP 9,671, ACN 5,766; Mopa Muro: PDP 5,933, ACN 1,421; Yagba West: PDP 7,768, ACN 4,342; Yagba East: PDP 7,613, ACN 4,191; Koton Karfi: PDP 9,896, ACN 6,210; Ijumu: PDP 8,363, ACN 5,903; Ogori Magongo: PDP 3,108, ACN 1,066; Ankpa: PDP 18,766, ACN 15,067; Bassa: PDP14,675, ACN 7,371; Dekina: PDP 32,102, ACN 15,766.
In Omala, the PDP had 19,520 votes while ACN had 3,200; Kabba-Bunu: PDP 10,505, ACN 6,678; Okene: PDP 35,593, ACN 7,368; Lokoja: PDP 21,856, ACN 13,194; Igalamela/Odolu: PDP 14,316, ACN 5,886; Ibaji LGA: PDP 22,048, ACN 8502.
The two local governments in which the ACN candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu beat Wada were Ofu, where he had 16,592 against PDP's 11,150, and Olamaboro: PDP 8,401, ACN 10209.
It will be recalled that before the result was collated, incumbent governor of the state, Ibrahim Idris, had expressed confidence that Wada would win the election.
The election exercise in the state was peaceful.
