Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Xavi have been named on a three-man shortlist for the Ballon d'Or World Footballer of the Year award.
Messi, 24, won the prize in 2009 and 2010 after scoring 53 goals in all competitions last season.
Many of his strikes were assisted by Barcelona team-mate Xavi, 31.
Ronaldo, 26, also scored 53 times for Real Madrid as they finished runners-up in Spain and were beaten by Barca in the Champions League semi-finals.
