Title: Get a "Linux" discount on your next computer purchase
Post by: gyroscope on Nov 30, 2009, 12:30 PM
If you normally run a distro based on Darwin, Linux, Solaris, BSD or Haiku (http://www.haiku-os.org/), then you are eligible for a significant discount (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=windows+refund) on your next purchase of Intel- or AMD-based notebook, netbook, desktop or server.  Before your new computer arrives, you will need to known relevant local consumer protection laws regarding purchases, have a note pad or log book or journal for the task, have a camera ready for documenting screen activity, and have your installation cd or dvd ready.

Refunds are always a game.  In any situation, the company owing you money always tries to keep your money and give you the run-around, either a single little barrier or many seemingly large barriers.  You have to find your way past feints, distractions, lies, misdirections and misleading statements.

However, once you have the rhythm it is easy.  Stay polite and document each step, especially names, so that no step is repeated twice.  Sometimes it goes easily in one or two steps.

Read how refunds are done (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=windows+refund) and jot down some plans.
