Osun State Governor, Alhaji Rauf Aregbesola yesterday decried the removal of fuel subsidy as a cruel and anti-people policy designed by the ruling Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP)-led Federal Government without any feeling for the poor.
While speaking at a New Year inter-religious service, Governor Aregbesola absolved his government and his party, the Action Congress of Nigeria of any involvement in the removal of fuel subsidy.
His words: "Since 1999, the PDP-led Federal Government had gradually been removing subsidy on petroleum products. This sudden withdrawal of fuel subsidy by President Goodluck Jonathan is inhuman and inconsiderate. The action of Jonathan has inflicted hardship on the people."
