Pegs chairmanship nomination form at N1m
THE ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed its national convention for February 25 during which new national officers will emerge.
The organising secretary of the party, Uche Secondus, who announced this when he distributed materials of the ward, local government, state and zonal congresses said the fee for nomination form for the position of national chairman of the party is N1 million.
Secondus disclosed that the nomination form for the position of national secretary is N500,000 while aspirants for positions of national officers will pay N300,000 for the nomination forms.
Other positions include national vice chairman,N100,000; zonal secretary-N30,000; other zonal positions N15,000; state chairman, N50,000; deputy state chairman, N30,000; state vice-chairman-N20,000, state secretary N30,000 and others-N15,000.
Secondus further announced that at the local government level, chairman is N10,000; deputy chairman, N5,000; secretary, N5,000; others, N2,000; chairman ward level, N1,000; deputy chairman,N500, ward secretary, N500 and others, N200. All aspirants for the position of national ad hoc delegates are to purchase their forms at N100.
He announced that the congresses would not hold in Bayelsa State because of the governorship election holding on February 11, 2012 while Edo has already held its congress. In the case of South West, Secondus said: "We have a lot of issues and so, chairmen of South West should be patient with us". He also said that there would be no congresses in Imo and Abia states.
Members of the National Working Committee (NWC) immediately went into a closed-door meeting to discuss matters arising from the South West after the distribution of the materials.
Secondus announced the dates for the congresses as follows; distribution of membership cards and ward registers-September1, 30, 2011; membership registration and revalidation, September 1-30, 2011; Ward Congresses, January 1-7, 2012; Ward Congresses Appeal-Jan.9-11, 2011; LGA Congresses, January14, 2012; LGA Congresses Appeal, January16-18, 2012; State Congress, January 21, 2012; State Congresses Appeals, January 23-25, 2012; Zonal Congresses-February 4, 2012; Zonal Congresses Appeals, February 6-8, 2012; National Convention, February 25, 2012 and handing over processes, February 27 to March 8, 2012.
